Top 5 NFC Matchups
It's the most wonderful time of the year the NFL is back!
Here are my top 5 NFC week 1 matchup.
5. Eagles vs Redskins
This NFC East matchup is a must-win for both teams because it will give the winner a nice jumpstart in a very difficult division. Philly chose to keep Carson Wentz under center this year after suffering from a back injury near the end of the 2018-2019 season. With the addition of Desean Jackson, the Eagles look to win it all like they did two seasons ago. However, the Redskins drafted QB Dwayne Haskins in this past draft and many expect great things from the former Buckeye. Coach Gruden may have a nice young core with Haskins and Guice in the backfield.
4. Vikings vs Falcons
The Falcons did not have the season they expected to have last season with a record of 7-9 which caused them to miss the playoffs. Receiver Julio Jones plans on playing Sunday but many say he’s not too happy about not getting a new contract during the offseason. Though the Vikings missed the postseason last year they finished second in the NFC North with an 8-7 record. Adam Theilen had an amazing season last year with 113 receptions which tied fourth-most in the league.
3. Panthers vs Rams
After losing to the Patriots in by far the worst Superbowl in NFL history the Rams look to make this season their official redemption tour. This offseason QB Jared Goff was rewarded with a four-year contract extension with 110 million dollars guaranteed. That's a lot of money for the kid can he lead them back to the big game? For the Panthers QB, Cam Newton is more than likely starting under center Sunday after fans saw him exit their third preseason game with an apparent foot injury. His shoulder seems to be healthy as well so the Panthers look to redeem themselves this season as well and a win in LA would be a great start.
2. Cowboys vs Giants
After an offseason of twist and turns running back, Ezekiel Elliot got paid! The Cowboys gave Elliott six-year, $90 million contract extension. The deal makes Elliott the NFL's highest-paid running back at $15 million per year. After a divisional-round exit in last years playoffs “Americas Team” looks to defeat their bitter rival and start their quest to win the division again. The Giants shocked the whole league after Trading star OBJ to the Cleveland Browns. Not to mention, drafting Daniel Jones from Duke in this past draft. The team ultimately looked good in the preseason and they also have the brightest young core offense in the league.
1. Saints vs Texans
After their devastating loss in last years conference championship, the Saints look to lock up the NFC South and compete for another Championship. However, the Texans are the favorite to win the AFC south so this AFC vs NFC matchup will be a great one to watch.
